IT’S CRIMINAL

SYNOPSIS

It’s Criminal focuses on a Dartmouth College class that brings students to a jail to work with incarcerated women on writing and performing an original play grounded in the lives of the female prisoners. It delves into privilege, poverty, addiction, abuse, and injustice and asks viewers to think about who is imprisoned and why. This transformational documentary also captures how the students and prisoners struggle to overcome their fears and prejudices to ultimately form hard-won bonds of friendship, showing that empathy is a powerful force that can help bridge the divide.
