TRUST ME
SYNOPSIS
TRUST ME explores the importance of media literacy and efforts being made to promote it. Through dynamic interviews with experts and compelling human stories, the film examines how information and disinformation is created, shared, and spreads throughout societies and how this, combined with confirmation bias and internet algorithms, affects our world. Presented by the Getting Better Foundation, and directed by Academy Award® nominee, Roko Belic (HAPPY, GENGHIS BLUES).
A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR:
My motivation for making this film really comes from two places – one is the Executive Producer, Joe Phelps. This movie was his idea – I cannot take credit for that. I’ve been increasingly interested in media and information… and dis-information… and when I learned about “bots” and Russian trolls… I realized that all of us benefit from exploring what’s going on. Because we’re all susceptible to the society that’s created as a result of this information landscape. I personally want to live in a place that is just. That offers people equal opportunities. Where people can live fulfilled, happy lives. I feel the media landscape has a huge impact on that. I feel making this film is the most important thing I can do right now.
